Some hesitation saved me for awhile Blind frustration - I took it with a smile From this distance things look very very small Time moved backward - a faded memory Missed the deadline Late by centuries From this distance things look very very small
2.
How can you paint the perfect picture? How can you paint the perfect line? How can you say you think it’s over? Why are you always alkaline? Trapped inside your head How can you say we`re going nowhere? How can you say that we are through? Why don’t you tell a perfect story? How come the skies are never blue? Inside your head…the lights are red How can you say you beat the system? You only fooled yourself again When you decide to make a statement Painting stars with a poison pen
3.
With your halo shattered, you might start again Just defeat the pattern straight to the end Raise a glass Hold your hand out for the key Raise your glass Slip the tumblers, and now you’re free But you fall apart when the cold winds blow And you fall apart When the sun shines through your window Now that clouds have darkened the stars in your eyes Find a way to pardon and start to revise Raise a glass Hold your hand out for the key Raise your glass Slip the tumblers, and now you’re free But you fall apart when the cold winds blow And you fall apart When the sun shines through your window
4.
A cup of kindness before I step into the light Chase the silence to quiet my mind for the night But you drag me down Sleep through the day when you can’t stand in the sunlight Waiting for the lightning, like a kite Builds like a blister The magic that means to mislead Sunset whispers that tell me you have what I need But you drag me down Blackout dreams are where I am found Sleep through the day when you can’t stand in the sunlight Still as a stone that sinks without a fight Dropped in the water, but the ripples just die Waiting for the lightning, like a kite
5.
Skinless 04:48
Peel back the pretense I'm unarmed and unarmored Understand: I'm skinless, a sullen teen The smallest thing can crush me All of this space, it suffocates And my tongue gets tied Walking these frozen streets alone I realized that we are just the same: we’re prey And I wish I didn't want it Most days feel impossible When I want to be on your list and on your tongue And I can't wait for another summer to arrive Before my skin grows back and blocks the sun Erase the scars of all the things I've done And we are just the same: no shame We still believe that next time will be different But I wish I didn't want it
6.
Nico 03:55
Nico’s daydreaming the questions She looks for answers in the clouds No one can help you now She burns her skin off in the shower But she can’t scrub out the crowd Songs unsung and words unsaid While wearing the clothes of the dead ‘Til she escapes this backwards town No one can help you now Nico’s daydreaming the answers To questions she can’t think out loud And all the things she doesn’t feel Are censored and concealed Until this cracked vase spills them out No one can help you now No one can
7.
Laser Hands 03:22
With laser hands, I`m reaching out for you Took the call, took the fall…what else could I do? Beyond my eyes I will see you through Feel the pain feel the flame…broken in two I will see you through With laser hands, I will set you free Take the reins break the chains…freedom by degree It’s time to run, let your spirit be Move ahead breathe again…the everlasting key I will see you through
8.
Time is a lullaby Sleep through the days like an endless night Stare down your dreams until you get them right Time is a lullaby The sky in your eyes is all you can see Before you get broken, come to me And we’ll fly through these halcyon days Birds out of season, we’ll flee our wicker cage And stare down the ghost that you called by name Fly, and we’ll fade away The sky in your eyes is all you can see Before you get broken, come to me Forget the past Stay off the barrows You can’t go back and try to bring her here I can hear their wings beat at the door Their tiny, bloody beaks lie on the floor
9.
I snuck inside and I stole a book of your secrets long ago Skimmed down to the part that had my name, and just below I didn’t mean to force a confession - I didn’t know How could I know? Tending the old flame all through my prime Playing the long game - I’ll bide my time And wait for them to die You’ll never know

about

Like a broken mirror, Seattle’s Guest Directors reflect a multitude of emotional and musical pathways.  On their new LP, Interference Patterns, the songs spiral one after another - sometimes powerful and sometimes delicate. They can sound like snowflakes and hail storms, sometimes in the same song.
